Photographer Gregg Bleakney cycles from Alaska to Argentina with just two pairs of ExOfficio Give-N-Go underwear. Gregg teamed up with Novus Select to produce this amazing journey from one corner of the earth to another.
Aurora Novus Co Founder Corey Rich recently took some time out from being behind the lens to model and test the new Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW backpack and Photo Sport Sling 100 AW. Corey got to head to the Sierras in Northern California to work with these bags in a variety of landscapes and conditions. Check out the Lowepro blog for more details on the bags.

Aurora Select photographer, Corey Rich is featured in the March 2011 issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine in an advertorial for Nikon. Corey sits down with Nikon to talk about his experience shooting with the D7000.
“My equipment needs to be light, durable and reliable. My “studio” is typically in harsh outdoor environments, so I need a DSLR that can take a beating, and it needs to deliver excellent image quality. With a rugged magnesium chassis, the D7000 handles everything I throw at it, and its compact form factor allows me to have the camera with me no matter how precarious the situation. Adventure sports are dynamic and unpredictable. Whether it’s a skier launching off a snowy cornice or a rock climber falling from a steep route, I can shoot at 6 fps and the D7000’s incredible 39-point AF system never misses the action. Most exciting is the D7000’s ability to shoot 1080p full HD video. More and more, my work is capturing both still and video in adventure environments, and the D7000 has become a DSLR that I want to have in my bag all the time.”

Produced for Travel Nevada’s 2010-2011 winter video campaign, Aurora Novus videographers Dane Henry and Corey Rich shot a 30-second broadcast television spot, a two-minute web homepage video and four 15-second web commercials. The videos are part of the highly integrated approach that Aurora Novus takes to advertising. The post-production editing was done by Dane Henry of Deep Roots Media.

Aurora photographer Blake Gordon filmed and photographed the nature preserve surrounding the Valles Caldera volcano in New Mexico for the video, “A Golden Opportunity.” The video was published by the National Parks Conservation Association, and was produced by Aurora Novus.
Aurora Photos: What were the challenges of this project? How did you overcome them?
Blake Gordon:An obvious challenge of developing a multimedia project from a photographic framework is that your dealing with three distinct mediums: still images, moving images, and sound. I’m comfortable with all of them, but you still have to remind yourself that they are all out there and you have to really make sure that they all can stand on their own or else you’ll be dealing with a weak link.
In addition to the media themselves, it was also a slightly more complex assignment in that there was a print feature as well as a multimedia piece. Those two venues had different time-frames as well as editors. We worked with Aurora Novus to edit the multimedia piece. Moving through the video editing process remotely went smoothly, but is a little more complex than editing selects and plugging them into a layout.
Usually a piece has already been written or at least is late in the process when a photographer goes out to shoot a feature. That wasn’t the case this time around. So I had to build in some flexibility as to what I captured while on assignment.
