José Azel Interviewed for Cornell Alumni Magazine

March 17th, 2010

Aurora Photos President and photographer José Azel was recently interviewed by his alma mater, Cornell University (Class of ’76), alumni magazine. In it, Azel talks about his career as a photographer, his love of telling visual stories, and being able to successfully find his way through the labyrinth of the photography world. Says Azel, “I’ve always seen myself as a storyteller, telling stories with pictures…I came to that realization more and more when I would go to places like the rain forest and the Congo; I would bring a National Geographic and I’d turn the pages and even pygmies could follow the storyline. They didn’t have to read the text or the captions to get it. It was pretty cool to understand that, when presented correctly, this is a universal language.“  You can read the article in its entirety by clicking here.
