Aurora photographer Katja Heinemann’s portraits of Denis Dutton, a philosopher of art and the author of The Art Instinct, have been published in the fall 2009 issue of Mercedes Magazine, which talks about the philosopher’s belief that all mankind is born with an innate instinct for beauty and art. “I photographed Professor Dutton on The High Line in Chelsea, a new park created from a disused stretch of elevated railway which offers great urban views and backgrounds as well as being a landscaped oasis,” says Heinemann.

Dennis Drenner on Cover of Edutopia Magazine

December 28th, 2009

edutopiacoverblog2009.png

Aurora photographer Dennis Drenner’s portrait of Greg Strella, the manager of Great Kids Farm in Baltimore, has been featured on the cover of the latest Edutopia Magazine. The cover story tells about a new initiative from Baltimore City Public Schools, where they are serving healthier food, buying fresh produce from local producers, and teaching kids where food comes from through Great Kids Farm, a 30 acre plot of land where inner city school kids go to get their hands dirty and learn how food is grown.

“There were two aspects of the assignment I loved,” says Dennis. “One was simply getting to spend time with the people at the farm. The place has a great energy and I felt my stresses melt away as soon as I stepped out of my car. The second was that I left all my shoots there with some fresh produce. I ate those beets Strella is holding in his hand on the cover.”
