Aurora photographer David Zentz’s image of Haitians bathing in the Saut-d’Eau waterfall has been published in the UK’s leading travel magazine, Wanderlust. The image reveals a physical cleansing ritual in a waterfall believed to have sacred water – all part of the Haitians’ annual pilgrimage to Saut-d’Eau in central Haiti to honor the Virgin Mary and her voodoo counterpart, known as Erzulie. Zentz’s photograph appears as a full page in the October 2009 issue.

Aurora photographer C.S. Ling was featured in a double page spread ad for the Nikon D90 camera in Singapore’s TODAY newspaper on September 2, 2009. Ling also spent a weekend testing out the camera along with Nikon’s 500mm AF-s lens by photographing local wildlife in Singapore’s parks. Aurora Photographer James Balog recently created a presentation incorporating his sequenced, time-lapsed images from the Extreme Ice Survey illustrating the rapid rate at which glaciers are receding. TED, a nonprofit dedicated to spreading innovative ideas on technology, entertainment, and design, is currently featuring Balog’s presentation on their website, www.TED.com. Aurora photographer Todd Bigelow’s images of 73 year old medical marijuana advocate Margo Bouer were recently published on National Public Radio’s website, NPR.org. The web feature story details Bouer, who lives in a retirement community in Laguna Woods, California, and smokes marijuana daily to cope with the side effects of Multiple Sclerosis. She hopes to start a cooperative to grow and dispense marijuana to others like her who have licenses and suffer from illness. To view the entire story on NPR, click here.

Aurora photographer Todd Bigelow’s image of a view from a car on a Los Angeles freeway was recently published to illustrate an article in Smithsonian Magazine. The article, entitled “The Long Way Home”, is the author Paul Theroux’s story of his lifelong dream to drive across America, in the same vein as other authors like Kerouac and Steinbeck.
