Aurora Photos is excited to announce our initial slate of guest editors who will be participating in our 15th anniversary celebration, Action:Reaction.

Each week a guest editor from a different publication, ad agency or organization will participate in the project by selecting the image to be the next link in the photographic chain. This week’s guest editor is Miki Johnson of American Photo Magazine.

Partnering with AboutTheImage.com, Aurora Photos selects San Diego based photographer, Elyse Butler to be a part of this week’s feature. Primarily documentary and journalistic in style, Butler often chooses women or women’s issues as the subjects for her photographic stories. The image shown below is a part of an on-going project documenting behind the scenes of debutante events.

Aurora Select photographer Andrew Cutraro’s portrait of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi appears in the 10 Questions section of the August 18 issue of Time Magazine. Nancy Pelosi has just written her first book, Know Your Power.

Aurora Select photographer Katja Heinemann portrayed the Dapice pastor’s family after not one, but two Sunday sermons in the middle of a tropical downpour. The location of the evangelical church is a makeshift one, renting out the back area of a popular diner in Tarrytown, NY. The article covers the topic of religious health sharing plans that are increasingly popular with Christians in this country.

Photographs by Aurora photographer Callie Shell were published in the most recent issue of Paris Match magazine. Callie shadowed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama during his tour in Europe and the Near East. Mr. Obama made stops in Berlin and Jerusalem as well as Paris during his trip. Callie has been covering the Obama campaign for two years.

Work by Aurora Select photographer Andrew Cutraro is featured in the August 2008 issue of PDN Magazine. His image of a U.S. Marine standing over a rifle cache near Baghdad accompanies an article about photojournalism in the gallery world. The photograph was part of a show called “Battlespace,” which took place in April at Gallery FCB in New York City. The exhibit showed photographs from Iraq and Afghanistan between 2003 and 2008.
