Aurora Celebrates 15 Years with Action:Reaction

June 13th, 2008

This year marks 15 years of Aurora Photos. To celebrate the milestone Aurora is creating an interrelated body of work, executed in a finite amount of time that will showcase the skills and creativity of Aurora photographers.

actionreaction

PORTLAND, Maine – June 14, 2008  — For 15 years Aurora Photos has been representing a constantly evolving mix of new and well-known photographic talent.  To celebrate, Aurora has embarked on Aurora@15, Action-Reaction, a project that will highlight the talent and creativity of its photographers.

The project starts with one photographer who conceives, shoots and delivers a photograph to Aurora with no restrictions on what that photograph might be. The photograph is then passed on to the next randomly selected
photographer for their reaction in the form of another photograph. This creates a visual action-reaction chain that will be updated every 48 hours at http://www.aurora15.com.

Not only will this project showcase the wide variety of talent represented by Aurora, but it will also highlight the talent behind the scenes required to produce such an ambitious undertaking. This dynamic collection of
photographers have been tasked with creating a body of work that challenges and inspires.

Lars Schneider on cover of Sea Kayaker magazine

June 7th, 2008

Aurora contributor Lars Schneider is featured on the cover of Sea Kayaker magazine’s April 2008 issue. In addition to the magazine the shoot will be used in a coffee table book about some of the most beautiful kayaking trips around the world, to be published in Germany this fall. “The Lofoten islands are a place in Northern Norway where it rains a lot. We had been there eight years ago and never saw the sun during ten days,” recounts Schneider. “We came back for that book and magazine story and were afraid we would experience the same. But after the first day in rain and storm, it stayed nice for one whole week. I shot this photo on the last morning of the trip. That same evening, the weather finally changed, with a huge storm and clouds crossing over the whole chain of islands.”
