The Belmont Gallery of Art, www.belmontgallery.org, in Massachusetts will be featuring Aurora contributor Paula Lerner’s multi-media presentation, Afghan Stories: Giving Women a Voice, January 15, 2008. A reception starts at 7pm with the presentation at 7:30pm. The presentation comes from Lerner’s work as a photojournalist, “In the 23 years I have been a working photographer, women’s issues have been a recurring theme in both my professional assignments and personal projects. When I had the opportunity to document the lives of women in Afghanistan, my interest was especially piqued. Knowing Afghan women have faced some of the harshest circumstances of women anywhere in the world, I knew their stories would be some of the most compelling.” The presentation shows from December 14, 2007 until February 5, 2008.

Aurora Select photographer, John Lee’s portrait of John Liotti and Paul Bains appears on the Fall 2007 cover of Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s magazine, One. Liotti and Bains, ministers in the troubled town of East Palo Alto, are starting a new credit union for the working class and poor residents of the town, in an effort to get them financially stable and into home ownership.

The rich media project provides a glimpse into Sharma’s approach to rock climbing as well as the lifestyle that surrounds his journey by combining video footage from the new Josh Lowell / Peter Mortimer film KING LINES, with still photography by Corey Rich, and captivating audio.
